Survey mode - draft, test, live

Turning a questionnaire into a survey goes through a relatively standard process. First the questionnaire is drafted. When drafting is complete it is tested and amended. Once it is signed off, it goes live for fieldwork. Once fieldwork has finished the survey is closed and reporting can be done. The phases for a survey in Cxoice follows this pattern:

Draft

Test/Pilot/Simulate

Live

Live with track

Closed

Archive

Initially the survey will be in ‘Draft’ mode. This allows the questionnaire to be edited and all collected data is marked as ‘Draft’.

You can switch the survey to ‘Test’ mode. This allows for external testing, or to simulated test cases against the questionnaire for routing and validation checks. All data collected is marked as ‘Test’

Simulations can be done as ‘Random’ – which is useful for checking the questionnaire with dummy data. All data collected is marked as ‘Sim’

Private server versions of Cxoice for agencies and larger clients also allow Simulations to be done using ‘AI’ (at a pricing cost) – which allows for a simulated data set to be created to build an AI-based model of results. All data collected is marked as ‘GenAI’

‘Sim’ and ‘GenAI’ data can be used to create data extracts directly for reporting or report testing.

Once the survey is tested it and data collection has been validated, the survey will need to be set to ‘Live’. Use the ‘Set to Live’ button to do this as it will take you through a checklist for the survey depending on the survey type.

Once the survey is set to ‘Live’ the questionnaire is locked. You can unlock it again for editing by setting the survey mode to ‘Draft’ before setting it back to ‘Live’. WARNING: be very cautious about changing a questionnaire in the middle of fieldwork.
